Israeli Dance Festival date announced

The Israeil Dance Institute Children's Festival will be held this year on Sunday 27th March 2011 at the Harrow Leisure Centre.

The festival is a highlight of the year for the Jewish schools and youth movements and is attended by participants from as far away as Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow. The festival is a happy family event.

During the year the children learn the dances in their weekly lessons at school then come together to dance them with all the other participants. There are performances by Israeli dance troupes and a highlight of the event is community dancing, when parents, grandparents and younger siblings also have the opportunity to participate.

At Akiva we value the role of Israeli dance as a lively way of nurturing a love of Israeli culture, familiarising the children with Jewish and Israeli music and songs and supporting their learning of Hebrew.
