Y6 pupils at Akiva witnessed a remarkable meeting between two champion weightlifters with very different life experience some 65 years apart.
Ben Helfgott, 82 is a survivor of the Holocaust who went on to be British weightlifting champion and to participate in the Olympics for his adopted country in the 50s.
Zoe Smith, at 17 is "the strongest girl in Britain" and an Olympic hopeful for London 2012, having won bronze at the Commonwealth Games.
Ben and Zoe's encounter at Akiva was the subject of an article for Holocaust Memorial Day, January 27th in the Telegraph newspaper.
