Akiva School

Mitzvah Day 2014

On Mitzvah Day in November, the Akiva children were very busy. Reception made challah for North London Hospice, Year 1 created pictures for Selig Court Jewish Care Home and Year 2 had a visit from the Jewish Deaf Association, and brainstormed the creation of a new tool to help the deaf community.

In the Juniors, Year 3 were visited by the Jewish Blind & Disabled Association and worked on creating a new tool to help the blind community, Year 4 were visited by Friends of Schnider School and looked at an Israeli-based social action project, Year 5 did singing, dancing and games at Gan Alon nursery, as well as made chocolate crispy cakes for a local night shelter, and Year 6 made talking books for the children's ward at Barnet Hospital. They also made sandwiches and jigsaw puzzles for the Homeless Action Centre and sang for care home residents at Fair Acres Nursing Home.
